Two Sea Stories Now Amazon Best Sellers

Thanks to YOU, there are two stories on the Amazon Best Seller list!  Last week, THE PIRATE and SIXTY-FOUR DAYS hit the big time in the Fiction > Sea Stories category.

As an independent author I rely on readers to buy my books, and I especially need readers who post positive reviews.  This is important on Amazon, because Amazon runs algorithms that detect when a book is purchased and reviewed.  When a book sells and receives positive reviews, Amazon puts that book into ads that say "Readers also bought . . . "  Thankfully those intelligent Amazon algorithms picked up on two sea stories that were heavily downloaded and reviewed over the past eight weeks.  THE PIRATE was downloaded over 180 times during September.  SIXTY-FOUR DAYS has been downloaded over 200 times so far in October.  To date, readers have blessed Malcolm Torres with over 30 positive reviews.
  

Here's the catch:  I have been giving THE PIRATE and SIXTY-FOUR DAYS away for free on Amazon.  You might ask, "Why are you giving stories away?"  Well, I have two reasons.  One:  I want readers to experience the action and get to know my characters.  My other motive is to promote my novel, SAILORS TAKE WARNING.  It's available on Amazon, iBooks, Kobo and Barnes & Noble.  I'm betting that if I give readers my sea stories for free; many will come back and buy SAILORS TAKE WARNING.  And, sure enough . . . slowly . . . slowly . . . this is happening on Amazon.  Over the past three months, SAILORS TAKE WARNING has crept up little by little and it now has twelve 5-star reviews and five 4-star reviews.

I'm going to continue using this strategy.  As a matter of fact, another sea story, SHARK TOOTH ROSARY BEADS, will be ready to publish on Amazon in November.  And SHARK TOOTH ROSARY BEADS will be given away for free also.  Early in 2015, my second novel, SAILORS DELIGHT, will also be available.  You can read the first few chapters of SAILORS DELIGHT here: www.sailorsdelightnovel.tumblr.com.
